How to do business in China

international seminar
In April 2006, I attended a two week international seminar in Beijing/China about the topic "How to do business in China". As part of this seminar I prepared two presentations in close cooperation with my friend Jörn Kuch:- China‘s attitude towards foreign companies
- Intellectual property rights for companies in China - theory and reality (China-IPRs.pdf)
The presentations were evaluated using the following criteria:
- Form
- Overview and structure
- Clarity of message
- Summary/ conclusion
- Presentation. Speech
- Impression of the team
- Content
- Scope of the subject (aspects)
- Depth of the subject (analysis)
- Use of secondary literature/ sources
- Primary sources (field research)
- Creativity
- Complexity of the subject.
The jury was formed by members from Euro-FH and Beijing universities. The evaluation was dominated by the Chinese members, however the Euro-FH members guided the process of finding the grades according to standard German procedures. This mixed target audience with diverse cultural background was an additional challenge while investigating the topics with reasonable criticism.
